Hearing Happenings

Our letter this week is Hh. Here’s a picture from Monday of class forming a Huge H!

“Listening ears” has been a phrase we’ve used throughout the school year so far, but this week we really focused on exploring our sense of sound to hear! Students have practiced using their ears in multiple ways:

  • Playing Simon Says
  • Playing Guess that Sound
  • We listened to a book called Gracie’s Ears. In this book, a girl named Gracie loves to do what her classmates do, but has trouble hearing. When her family searched for answers, Gracie discovered the wonder of hearing aids and sounds of the world!
  • Compared “loud” vs “quiet” sounds: Students moved from table to table and listened to the sound each combination of objects made. Afterwards, we sorted them along a spectrum of loud and quiet.

They loved these sound gadgets so much we added it as a center for the rest of the week.
