“I looked out the window and what did I see? Popcorn popping on. the apricot tree.
Spring has brought me such a nice surprise! Blossoms popping right before my eyes.
I can take a handful and make a treat. A popcorn ball that smells so sweet.
It wasn’t really so, but it seemed to be popcorn popping on the apricot tree!”
(This is the song we’ve been singing this week as we learn about the changes that occur in Spring)
This week our young scientists took a walk outside to investigate the changes taking place in the environment. With their eyes they observed buds forming on branches and the grass turning green. With their ears they could hear the birds chirping and as they walked, they could feel the wind blowing. To their surprise they discovered a ‘popcorn tree’ in our Summit backyard! Then another one across the Summit parking lot! They were amazed at all the changes that the season of spring brings to our world!
We painted our hands and arms brown to create a tree. Then we added popcorn to make our very own ‘popcorn tree!’ With green paint and a fork, the Early Learners stamped to make green grass growing! They had so much fun! They couldn’t believe they were glueing popcorn on their paper! (they nibbled a little bit too)
This has been a week of discovery! We’re looking forward to the days ahead to see our lima bean plants take root and grow and watch our caterpillars transform right before our eyes!
Have a wonderful weekend!
