Yesterday we went outside to do a little investigating.  We wanted to see if our ‘senses’ worked outside as well as they do on the inside of school.  With clipboard, paper and crayon in hand, our Early Learners looked around and listed everything they saw.  Trees, leaves, grass, concrete, benches as well as other students having P.E.  They closed their eyes and listened.  They heard the students yelling and laughing, they heard birds chirping, cars driving by, some heard the wind!  Then we put our clipboards down and touched our surroundings.  They picked up leaves, sticks, touched the grass, and sidewalk.  We determined if the objects were hard, soft, bumpy, smooth,  hot or cold.   Each student drew their findings on the paper and shared their experience with the class.  Our young students really enjoy hands on experiences and they really enjoy learning!

Today we focused on the sense of hearing.  We learned about the parts of the ear and how our ears function.  We played listening games where the students had to identify familiar and not so familiar sounds.  Below is a picture of our sweet Early Learners wearing the big ears they cut out this morning!  They should be able to hear you very clearly now!  🙂

Have a wonderful weekend!  ~Mrs. Michaliszyn
