Early Learners Yellow have had a busy week exploring the Arctic! We have learned about penguins, walruses, narwhals and the arctic fox. We experimented with ice painting and snowflake matching.
In Math, we made predictions about the length and height of items using legos and unifix cubes. We are getting close to the 100 Days of School celebration!!! Some students are counting by 10s, and 5s.
In Literacy, we are incorporating some sign language into our curriculum with rhymes and music by Patty Shukla. Sign Language improves memory, attention and problem solving skills. We are learning about word families-groups of words that have similar spelling and sound patterns. A few early learners area reading decodable books! The students area learning to cooperate by playing matching games. In the picture below, the students are practicing the sign for nest.
In Writing, we are working on spelling our first and last name. Second trimester evaluations area coming up soon so the students are practicing writing the ABCs and numbers.
We have had some creative indoor recesses, including a having snowball fight and doing an obstacle course. The students enjoy the competition.
