Community Helpers: Firefighters

Earlier this week, we started our new discovery unit on community helpers and learned what it means to live in a community. Yesterday, we talked about firefighters and the role these everyday heroes play in keeping our communities safe. Students discovered the uniforms firefighters wear, designed to protect them from heat and flames. They also learned about the various tools firefighters use, from hoses to the axes and ladders that help them rescue those in danger.

To wrap up our lesson, students crafted their own firefighters using toilet paper rolls. This project not only sparked their imaginations but also helped them enhance their fine motor skills as they skillfully used scissors to bring their little heroes to life.
