Transportation ABC’s

Last week, the Adventurers spun a wheel to choose a letter of the alphabet. Once a letter was chosen, they picked a vehicle starting with it. From Amphibious vehicles to Zambonis, students explored different modes of transportation and classified them into land, air, and sea. This activity expanded their understanding of vehicle operations and encouraged critical thinking about the environments these vehicles function in. For instance, an Amphibious vehicle, capable of traveling on land and water, sparked discussions about its two purposes. Meanwhile, a Zamboni, seen at ice rinks, showed a land vehicle with a specific purpose. This exploration is a precursor to the Force and Motion unit, helping students understand how different vehicles are powered and what makes them move. This unit helps students expand their vocabulary and understanding of transportation, and also helps them gain a deeper appreciation for transportation science.
