Vowel Digraph ow

In this week’s spelling pattern, first grade students are learning vowel digraph ow. We have learned a digraph is two letters that come together to make one sound. Vowel digraph ow is special because it is also a diphthong. A diphthong is one vowel sound formed by the combination of two vowel sounds. This week, we will discover and practice the two sounds of /ow/ as in “know” and “cow”.
