Yoga

First grade continues to amaze me with their interest in yoga. They are always wanting to learn new poses and games. It is such a joy to teach them.

We learn a new breathing technique each week. Some of the techniques will teach students how to calm themselves down, while others will bring energy to the body.

This week we start our mindful craft activity. The entire lower school (and some middle school yoga students) are helping me create a gratitude tree. The paper tree is hanging on the wall in the yoga room, and every student creates at least one leaf with something drawn or written on it that they love or are grateful for. The wall is filling up and I’m very proud of the students. It is great watching the students read all the leaves on the wall and seeing what others are grateful for.

Feel free to visit the “bat cave” yoga room (across from the Raven Cafe) if you’d like to see the gratitude tree.
