3D Printing with Tinkercad

In STEM class this week, the second-grade students were tasked with using Tinkercad to bring their inventions to life.

The students were amazed at how easy it was to create and manipulate their designs in Tinkercad. They used various shapes and tools to create their inventions, and some even added color and texture to make them more visually appealing.

One student invented a “tree-o-key” that will hold all of your keys, so you do not lose them.. Another student created a “switch storage case” that could carry their switch and supplies to and from school. Yet another student designed a “device that will put your shoes away for you”.

Once their inventions are printed with our 3D printer, the students will present their creations to the class. They can explain how their inventions work and how they could benefit from them.

Using Tinkercad to create their inventions not only helped the students develop their 3D design skills, but it also encouraged them to think critically and creatively. It taught them how to turn their ideas into tangible objects and empowered them to become inventors and problem-solvers.

In conclusion, incorporating Tinkercad into our STEM class curriculum is an excellent way to introduce young students to 3D design and foster creativity and innovation. It’s exciting to see the amazing inventions that second-grade students can create using this powerful tool, and it’s inspiring to see the potential for their future in technology and beyond.
