Non-Fiction Scavenger Hunt

We have moved into non-fiction books in 3rd grade. With non-fiction books comes text features that are found primarily in non-fiction texts. We have identified the different text features we could find (i.e. bolded words, labels, captions, etc). To help us apply this knowledge the 3rd graders have been tasked with a scavenger hunt to find non-fiction books in the room and find examples of these text-features.

As a class we discussed how to identify if the book is non-fiction or fiction. They have jumped into the scavenger hunt with great gusto and have had so much fun finding these features! Some students have even found new topics that have peaked their interest and curiosity!
