In third-grade this week, students embarked on a journey to explore the intricate wonders of nature. Armed with curiosity and creativity, these budding engineers delved into the world of 3D printing to bring the life cycle of living things to a three-dimensional reality.
The students dove into the engineering design process. They begin by identifying the problem: How can we design a model to show the life cycle of a living thing? With this question in mind, they eagerly moved on to the next step: research. They used several websites as well as Epic to gain knowledge about their chosen plant or animal. They explored the stages of growth, development, and reproduction, gaining insights into the intricate processes that sustain life.
Armed with newfound knowledge, they brainstormed design ideas and sketched out rough blueprints for their 3D models.
They then transitioned to using Tinkercad software to bring their concepts to life. When everyone has their life cycle printed they will proudly present them to their classmates.
