5th Grade in the Raven’s Art Studio

I’m pleased to say that fifth-grade artists have been producing excellent work and exploring various drawing tools and techniques. Currently, student artists are creating Zentangles Silhoettes. Zentangle and the concept of negative and positive space are both valuable topics to introduce young artists to. Here’s a bit more information about each:

Zentangle: is a method of creating intricate and structured patterns through repetitive, deliberate strokes. It’s a relaxing and meditative art form that encourages focus and mindfulness. Fifth-grade students can benefit from learning Zentangle as it helps improve fine motor skills, patience, and creativity. They can create unique Zentangle-inspired artworks by combining different patterns and designs.

Negative and Positive Space: Understanding negative and positive space is fundamental in art. Negative space refers to the empty or background space around an object, while positive space is the actual object or subject itself. Teaching this concept helps students develop their observation skills and the ability to see shapes and relationships more clearly. It also aids in creating balanced and well-composed artworks.
