Fifth Grade Music Update

Greetings!

Along with building their note-reading skills by studying steps and skips on the staff, learning the landmark notes and their neighboring notes, fifth graders are continuing their keyboard unit AND entering a unit about the string instruments of the orchestra.  They have learned that the instruments range in pitch from highest to lowest in the following order: violin, viola, cello, and double bass.  They have also learned the make-up of a string quartet (interestingly, NOT the aforementioned list), and heard some examples of different styles of music performed on these instruments.  We are looking forward to a live demonstration of each of these instruments in November!
