It’s the ERB week for students in grades 3-5. Students are working diligently on these assessments Monday through Friday this week. It’s been fun to speak with them about which lessons we’ve had that were particularly helpful for certain questions! The fifth grade learning doesn’t stop however! Here’s what we’re working on:
Reading: Fifth graders are halfway through their 2nd novel studies. Today, they completed a self-assessment and set some goals for finishing out the novel study.
Writing: We are beginning to work on personal narratives. This week, we will go over the major components of personal narratives and brainstorm some stories that would make a good narrative.
Science: Groups are continuing to work on their cell posters.
Math: We started a new unit on statistics and graphs. We learned about finding the mean, median, mode, range, and outliers of a data set. We will also learn about making and interpreting line plots, coordinate planes, and line graphs. This is a super short unit, and will wrap up with a test next week.
