Yesterday and today, we have been accessing our inner scientist and learning about bones. We looked at different bones in our bodies, like our ribs and our spine, and learned what they do. Today we did an experiment that involved putting a pipe cleaner inside a straw. Students noticed that it was very hard to bend. We compared this to the strong bones in our legs that help us stand and walk. Next, we cut the straw into little pieces and put them on the pipe cleaner again. This time, the pipe cleaner was easy to bend and wiggle! We compared this to our spine, which helps us bend, twist, and move our bodies in many ways. We had fun learning how our bones help us move every day!
