Building our classroom community at the table!

There are so many ways to build a classroom community, and we are working on all of them here at the beginning of the year! One of the great ways we learn to be a community is to eat our snacks and lunch together. We all sit at the table together and spend time talking to each other, asking each other questions, seeing what foods each person brought that day, finding a friend that has a matching food item, and generally enjoying one another’s company. We are also learning to take turns speaking, to ask for help, to say please and thank you, and to wait politely while others to finish their food. All of these skills are so important to creating kindness and understanding towards one another, and we practice them every single day!
