This week in Early Learners Yellow, we have been learning all about books and reading! To make reading extra fun, we had a special Stuffie Day. We brought our favorite stuffie and enjoyed reading to them and doing a fun exercise video with them! When we went to music class today our stuffies went and played in our classroom. Early Learners had a ton of fun finding their stuffies!

Reading doesn’t always have to mean sitting quietly and listening to a story. For pre- and early readers, reading can look like holding a book, turning the pages, looking at pictures, talking about what they see, retelling a familiar story, noticing letters and sounds, and making up their own stories.

One of the best ways to encourage young children to read is simply to make it fun! Children can “read” to a stuffie, a pet, a sibling, or even their favorite toy!
