Numbers 0-10

In kindergarten, we are concluding our exploration of numbers 0-10. Since the beginning of the year, students have been learning to write, recognize, and verbally express these numbers. We have watched many engaging videos about numbers that encouraged movement and participation. We conducted number hunts around the classroom, where students had to find specific numbers and write them down. Additionally, students have been working on mastering how to write numbers 0-10 in their handwriting books.

More specifically, kindergarten students have been using hands-on math manipulatives to visually understand how to count objects and determine total amounts. They have been introduced to various strategies for discussing numbers, including using ten frames, drawing pictures to represent numbers, and writing tally marks. Furthermore, students are learning how to group numbers so they can count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. They have discovered that grouping object can help them reach the total amount more quickly, especially when dealing with larger quantities! As we conclude this unit on numbers 0-10, we will soon begin exploring teen numbers.
