Bossy E

Students learned about the “Bossy E” rule last week.  When E is at the end of some CVC words, it tells the vowel to say the long vowel sound (its name).  Sometimes this rule is also known as “magic E.”  Students enjoyed watching this video about the Bossy E and dancing along.  As a class, we experimented with the Bossy E to turn simple CVC words into CVCe words with long vowel songs. All students then listened for a CVCe word they wanted to spell and illustrate.  Students did an excellent job applying this new rule! Some students have even started noticing CVCe words in our environment.

Don’t forget! Spirit Week this week; tomorrow is “Cuando sea grande…” or College and Career Day (When I grow up…)
