“Penny, You’re the One”

The Reason Why Dimes Are Smaller Than Pennies And Nickels Even Though They Worth More - I'm A Useless Info Junkie

Kindergarten students are learning to identify, sort, and count same coin groupings and mixed coin groupings.  So far, we have learned about the penny, nickel, and dime.  We studied the pictures on the “heads” and “tails” of each coin, learned about the people and images depicted, and noticed differences in size, color, and edge texture.  We have also practiced using cents notation.  Students have enjoyed several money themed songs including Hey, Honey Bunny, Penny You’re the One, Nickelish, and Dime and Dime Again. Sing along at home and get out your loose change to keep practicing!
