Solar Eclipse Eye Safety

Don’t forget to wear your solar eclipse glasses today!

It is crucial to emphasize the importance of eye safety during this time. The sun’s intense rays can cause permanent damage to the eyes if proper precautions are not taken. This past week of school, we made it clear to educate the students about solar eclipse eye safety to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and tools to protect their eyes.

Here are some tips to remember:

  • No Staring at the Sun: Kindergarteners are taught never to look directly at the sun, whether during a solar eclipse or on any other day. Even a glance at the sun can cause eye damage.
  • Use Solar Eclipse Glasses: To safely view a solar eclipse, kindergarteners are provided with special solar eclipse glasses that meet the international safety standard. These glasses block out harmful ultraviolet, visible, and infrared rays, allowing children to observe the eclipse without risking eye injury.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Supervising the kindergarteners during solar eclipse viewing activities is necessary so that you can ensure that they are wearing their eclipse glasses properly and following safety guidelines. You can emphasize the importance of keep ing the glasses on at all times while looking at the sun.

I hope you all can enjoy this historical time with your children!
