Engineers think carefully about problems. Sometimes they create models as solutions to a problem. These models need to be tested to see if they work. Once tested, engineers can learn about what worked within their model and what did not. These tests help them know what they need to do to improve their model. Rube Goldberg made intricate designs to accomplish simple tasks. Students were challenged to brainstorm simple tasks that need to be completed. feed their pet, make a snack, put candy in a bowl, etc. Today they used the Engineering Design Process to start their chain reaction Rube Goldberg machine. Be sure to ask your child what problem they are working on. We will continue these until they have accomplished their goal.
