Wow, what an amazing day!! At Lake Springfield Park, we hiked, kayaked, played in a creek, and saw the following parts of our beautiful Missouri ecosystem: a blue heron, a fairly large snapping turtle, two sets of geese families with babies, purple martins, a baby Cardinal being protected by its parents, ducks, more insects than we can remember…and so much more. This was the perfect last field trip of the year (and of a career — glad to wrap it up with my favorite field trip ever).
