This month, fourth graders have been studying the instrument families in the symphony orchestra. They have learned about string, percussion (including the piano!), brass, and woodwind instruments.  On Thursday, we welcomed a special guest, Michael Stine from the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. He talked with us about brass instruments, showing us a trumpet, a tuba, and a trombone. He and I performed the Starlight Waltz Caprice by Arthur Pryor for the students. The students were excellent listeners and asked Mr. Stine thoughtful questions.
