π Book Clubs Are Underway!
An exciting new chapter began in reading this week with the launch of our book clubs! Students learned what a book club is, how it operates, why preparation matters, and how to engage in meaningful, respectful discussions with their peers. They also explored their book options and eagerly submitted their preferences.
This week, students previewed three incredible stories: The Tale of Despereaux, Prince Caspian, and Bridge to Terabithia. Each book offers rich characters, exciting adventures, and plenty of opportunities for deep thinking and conversation. Students spent time learning about each text so they can enter their book clubs ready to read with purpose.
Starting next week, book club groups will be revealed, and students will dive into their assigned books. They will be responsible for reading their assigned chapters and responding to reading response questions in their writing notebooks. These responses help them reflect on characters, themes, and events while preparing them to bring thoughtful ideas to their group discussions.
During each book club meeting, students will be expected to contribute something meaningful to the conversation: whether itβs an idea, a connection, an insight, or a question they want the group to explore. Our goal is to build thoughtful readers who can listen, respond, and collaborate in a supportive literary community.
Weβre so excited for this journey and canβt wait to watch students grow as readers and discussion partners. Stay tuned for updates as our book clubs take off! πβ¨
