Our project before Thanksgiving break was a highlight: 3rd grade Spanish students prepared and delivered short presentations entirely in Spanish that showcased how much they’ve grown this semester. Over several lessons each student wrote ten sentences using ten different emotion words, with each sentence featuring a different subject pronoun (yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros(as), vosotros(as), ellos, ellas, and ustedes). To bring the sentences to life, students took photos of classmates or family groups acting out each emotion, which made vocabulary like feliz, triste, enojado, emocionado, and ocupado vivid and meaningful.
Presentations showed clear pronunciation, expressive gestures, and growing confidence. The project reinforced grammar and vocabulary while giving students an extended opportunity to speak and perform in Spanish, leaving them proud and energized heading into the holiday.
