This week in Fourth Grade 12/1-12/5
This week in grammar, we focused on articles. Specifically when to use a, an, or the in a sentence. Students practiced identifying the correct article based on context and vowel/consonant sounds.
In math, we continued our work with division, including multi-digit division strategies. Students practiced breaking down larger problems, checking their work, and choosing strategies that make sense for them.
In reading our book clubs continued this week! Students had their first experience discussing their reading with their groups, sharing predictions, questions, and thoughts about their books.
In economics, we learned about what an economy is and the different kinds of resources that support it:
- Natural resources
- Human resources
- Capital resources
We also explored various economic activities such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and other industries and discussed how each one contributes to our economy.
In writing, students selected their main topic idea for their opinion essay. They also developed three strong supporting reasons and began organizing their ideas to prepare for drafting.
