This Week in 4th Grade 12/8-12/12
Here’s a look at what we worked on in fourth grade this week:
Math
We continued our division unit, practicing both partial-quotient division and traditional long division. Students worked hard reviewing strategies and preparing for our end-of-unit test next week. This practice is helping them gain confidence and efficiency as they solve multi-step problems.
Reading
Students continued participating in their book clubs and responded to their reading through discussions and written reflections.
Writing
In writing, we drafted the rough drafts of our opinion essays. Students did a great job organizing their thoughts and supporting their ideas with reasons. We also reviewed pre-writing and brainstorming strategies to help strengthen their drafts, and continued focusing on grammar and sentence structure to build complete, well-formed sentences.
Spelling
Students focused on spelling patterns and practiced them throughout the week. Spelling tests have been graded and can be found in students’ folders.
Science & Economics
This week, students learned about supply and demand and explored how banks and loans work. They enjoyed making real-world connections and discussing how these concepts impact everyday life.
