This Week in 4th Grade: 2/9-2/12
In math, we finished our fractions unit with a test and started learning how to add and subtract fractions with the same and different denominators.
In reading, we’re getting ready to start our new novel, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. We spent some time learning about the author and are excited to begin reading next week.
In science, we wrapped up our economics unit and are looking forward to starting Force and Motion next week.
During grammar, we focused on pronouns and practiced using them correctly in our writing.
In writing, we kicked off our poetry unit! Students learned how to write haiku and cinquain poems. We’ve also introduced the different Lab Fair categories as students continue working on their writing and begin thinking about projects they might like to enter.
We had such a fun Valentine’s Day celebration, thank you for all your help in making it special! Students worked together on a LEGO heart-building challenge, and it was great to see so much creativity and teamwork. We also enjoyed cupcakes and drinks from the Fizz, along with Cuties, while students passed out candy and their Valentine treats.
On a personal note, thank you for all the kind birthday wishes and for making Teacher Appreciation Week feel so special. Teaching your children is such a joy. They bring curiosity, creativity, and kindness to our classroom every day. Your support, along with the thoughtful Valentine’s treats, means so much. I’m grateful to be part of this wonderful community!
