Team Complete

This week in writing, we started off the year talking about the requirements of a complete sentence (and the importance of using them in our writing exercises!).  We played a game called Team Complete – ask your student to play the game with you.  Beware – it can be tricky!

We also practiced writing complete and incomplete sentences to focus on the ways in which a sentence can be incomplete.  Students organized them on the board and analyzed them.  Over the next few days in writing, we will begin our unit on opinion writing by learning about the 6 main traits of writing, how to interpret and respond to a prompt, and how to generate ideas for opinion pieces.

Here are also a few pictures from a game we played last week call First Day Bingo  The students had to find classmates who agreed with statements on a Bingo card.  Between playing First Day Bingo, Two Truths and a Lie, and interests 4 Corners, we learned a lot about our classmates over the past week!
