Semana de los Muertos

Fifth Grade students spent the week learning about the traditional Mexican celebration, Día de los Muertos, or in our case, Semana (Week) de los Muertos.

Students created their own papel picado (cut paper), cempasúchil (marigold flowers), and of course, the all-school ofrenda. Students even learned about the migration of the monarch butterflies to Mexico, which coincides with Dia de los Muertos each year.

Overall, it was a week of learning about and discussing culture, tradition, and remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. Muchas gracias (thanks so much!) to everyone who participated in this special week!
