Looking forward to a great week ahead! Here’s what we’re working on:
Writing: Drafting expository writing. We’re learning about paragraphing out essays, and especially focusing on what should be included in introduction and conclusion paragraphs.
Reading: Reading Groups! Groups are meeting about their reading assignments in Island of the Blue Dolphins or My Side of the Mountain.
Spelling/Grammar: Spelling week this week! Spelling check on Friday.
Science: We’re finishing up learning about contact and non-contact forces. We’re kicking off leaning about electricity by playing with some balloons and building up some static!
Social Studies: We’re learning about what was going on in the rest of the world in 1500 – Europe, Asia, and Africa. We’re looking for answers to the question: why did European explorers begin sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean in the 1490s?
Math: Dividing BIG whole numbers. We’ll get into word problems and figuring out what to do with those pesky remainders later in the week. Math check on multiplying and dividing big whole numbers early next week.
