It’s the last full week of school before winter break! We’re finishing up a bunch of units. Here’s what we’re working on:
Writing: Revising, editing, and publishing an expository essay.
Reading: Reading groups on Island of the Blue Dolphins and My Side of the Mountain continue.
Spelling/Grammar: It’s a grammar week. We’re learning about prepositions and conjunctions. This is our last grammar unit that focuses on parts of speech!
Science: We’re learning about how static electricity moves. We’ll talk about lightning and start working on a lab which tests which materials are electrical conductors and which are electrical insulators.
Social Studies: We’ll wrap up talking about what the world was like in 1400. Then we’ll learn about Columbus and how Europeans sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean changed the world.
Math: On Tuesday, we’re wrapping up our unit on multiplying and dividing multi-digit whole numbers with a math check. We will begin working on a mini-unit on exponents, order of operations, and making algebraic expressions.
