Week of 2/21- 2/24

Happy Presidents’ Day!  Here’s what we’re up to in 5th grade this week:

Writing: Literary Essays!  We’re revisiting the 5 paragraph essay format and focused on analyzing an aspect of the novels from the first reading groups.

Reading:  Students are still working through their 2nd reading group novels!

Spelling/Grammar: Formatting quotations and citations, and using context to help discern the meaning of words.

Science: Finishing up our circuit boards for today’s celebration.  Then we are moving on to a mini-unit on graphing.

Social Studies: British colonies in North America, starting with Jamestown and Roanoke.

Math: There will be a math check on our current unit on place value and decimal numbers on Wednesday.  Then we’re moving on to a new unit where we will perform more complex math with fractions and decimals.
