Week of 3/6 – 3/10

Happy Summit Spirit Week!  It’s going to be a fun one leading up to Spring Break!  Here’s what we’re up to:

Writing: Students will be finishing up their literary essays.  Afterwards, we will be turning our attention to LAD fair – gathering, organizing, and publishing pieces (and writing a few more) to be submitted when we return from Spring Break.

Reading: Continuing with reading groups.  Again, the focus this week is on how authors use literary devices to improve the imagery in their writing.

Spelling/Grammar: Spelling week this week!  The kids are super excited to be back into spelling after a bit of a hiatus.

Science: We will continue working with graphs this week.  We will be learning about, interpreting, and making line graphs, bar graphs, pictographs, histograms, circle graphs, and stem-and-leaf plots.

Math: We’re learning about customary units of measurement.  We’re also taking another look at fractions and learning to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.
