Week of 2/26-3/1

Who can believe it’s almost March?!  It’ll be a short week this week.  Thursday is an early release day and Friday is Student Led Conference day!  Students will be working all week to prepare a slide show for their conference.  Other things we will be working on:

Writing: We will be working on a literary essay about the book they read for their first reading groups.  We will be learning about how to include paraphrases and direct quotations (with MLA citations!) to provide evidence to support ideas.

Reading: Reading groups continue.

Spelling/Grammar: We will be studying several prefixes and suffixes this week.

Science: We are spending a few weeks studying graphs and statistics.

Social Studies: We will be learning about Spain’s colonies in the Americas.

Math: We are starting a new unit.  This unit starts with multiplying and dividing by powers of ten.  We will also learn about converting metric and customary units of measure.
