Here’s what we’re doing in fifth grade this week:
Writing: We’re fine-tuning our literary essays. We are learning about providing background for and explaining direct quotations. Students are also getting an introduction to MLA formatting for in-text citations.
Reading: Continuing to work through these novels!
Spelling/Grammar – none this week.
Science: We are learning about cells and starting a cell poster project.
Social Studies: We are comparing and contrasting the French and Spanish colonies. Afterwards, we will begin talking about the British colonies in North America.
Math: We are using our fraction multiplication skills to talk about scaling numbers. On Friday, we will begin reviewing for the math check on this unit. The check is scheduled for Tuesday of next week.
