Week of 4/8- 4/12

It’s the first of a few 4-day weeks in a row.  Here’s what fifth graders are doing:

Writing: Final revisions and edits on our last few essays.

Reading: Students will be finishing their novels on their own this week and working on a Literary Newspaper to demonstrate their analysis of the text.

Spelling/Grammar: Continued work with homophones.

Science: Groups will be completing their posters on Cells this week.

Social Studies: We will learn about New Amsterdam (soon to be New York City), and begin learning about the 13 British colonies.

Math: We are beginning a new unit this week.  We will learn about positive/negative numbers and plotting points on a coordinate plane.
