All about the letter T!

This week we are learning the letter T! On Tuesday I printed out some pictures of different animals that start with the letter T. I then wrote the name of each animal on an index card with the corresponding picture. I placed these cards all around the room. Like we have done in previous challenges, I asked the students to go find one card and then find one person who had the same card as they did. Once we all found our partners that had matching cards each pair had to tell their classmates what their animal was and ACT like the animal they had! We had lots of laughs! We had tigers, triceratops, tarantulas, tamarin monkeys, turkeys, toads, turtles, and toucans!

Each morning students have an opportunity to write in their journals. Many times they ask how to spell certain words they would like to use in their journal writing. I decided to ask them if they would like to use our letter T animal cards in their journal writing for some inspiration and they loved the idea!

I also placed our cards around the room and students practiced writing them during center time. The also added several other words that they found around the room that start with T! They love the challenge of writing the room and finding the most words they can that start with our letter of the week!
