High School Mathematics

Geometry

Geometry students completed the unit on trigonometry and are moving on to work with solid figures. First up is cross-sections. Then it is time to investigate the effect of scaling on area, surface area, and volume.

Data Science

Data Science students are working on a project to determine the best place for them out of a list of 500 North American cities. After exploring the UN’s Human Development Index ranking, students determined their own dimensions and indicators for a place that they would like to live post-graduation. Students chose things like climate, culture, economy, and housing as values that would impact their decision. They are importing data from Data Commons to create indexes in Google Sheets that will rank the cities and determine the best ones based on student’s preference. This quick project will culminate next week.
