Students analyzed logos, ethos, and pathos within a piece of propaganda of their choosing. We discussed introduction strategies (no to rhetorical questions!), crafting thesis statements, and citing research. They worked with their peers to get feedback on their drafts before turning in their essays.
To engage with your student, you could ask them:
- how they found the scholarly sources they needed to incorporate into their analysis;
- which piece of propaganda they analyzed; and
- why they believe this piece of propaganda was successful – or not.
