A Chain of Kindness

As we make our way through the school year, we continue to talk about the importance of kindness. Today, we did an activity called “Chain of Kindness”. Before starting the activity, we re-discussed what kindness means and how it makes us feel. We talked about different ways we can show kindness, such as kind words, kind actions, kind thoughts, and kind hands. I also asked the students to share any kind words or phrases they had heard from others, which we then wrote down on strips of paper. The chain we created represents our collective knowledge of encouraging and kind words. We use these phrases in class to support and uplift each other when needed. This activity allowed us to acknowledge each other’s kind choices and start seeking the good in one another. By doing so, we hope to encourage more acts of kindness in the future. The chain was hung up in our classroom, and it serves as a visual reminder that kindness is infinite and can continue on and on. This activity also allowed us to collaborate and work together as we constructed the chain. Ask your child what kind phrase they wrote on their strip today!
