Designing a Keychain Charm to Promote Earth Care

Today, kindergarteners dove into the wonderful world of designing a 3D object.  Our mission? Designing a keychain charm that serves as a gentle reminder to take care of our precious planet Earth.

Before diving into sculpting, they watched a couple of videos on recycling and how plastic harms the world.  Then they brainstormed some ideas. What symbols or images represent taking care of the Earth to you? Maybe it’s a cute little globe, a smiling sun surrounded by green leaves, or even a tiny recycling bin. They all came up with some great ideas!

Next week, once they’ve settled on a design, they will draw and color a picture of what they want to make.  This will give them some direction before scupting.  Then they will grab their Model Magic and start sculpting!  After they have finished sculpting and adding details, they will set their charm aside to dry.

Then they will use markers to bring your design to life. Once their charm is completely dry we will attach the keychain ring. They can give these to a loved one and every time they reach for their keys, they will be reminded of the importance of taking care of our planet. Keep spreading those green vibes, little eco-warriors!
