Doubling the Fun

Classrooms come alive excitedly as young learners engage in hands-on activities. From colorful manipulatives to interactive games, there are endless opportunities to make learning fun and engaging. Some doubles facts activities these kindergarteners have taken part in are counting colorful bears, using number lines, doubles memory games, songs, dances, and art projects. Specifically, the students were able to use paint to create symmetrical designs as they explored the concept of doubling visually. Moreover, during the past week, the kindergarten students have been learning a “Doubles Rap.” These students have learned the song and motions so that they could really get into the music video. Memorizing and understanding math facts is crucial for developing number sense as well as helping students build the foundation for higher-level math concepts. Work on building mathematical fluency by practicing the doubles rap at home with your child!
