Planting Seeds

Earlier this month, the kindergarteners planted seeds in our classroom pot. This hands-on learning experience has fostered curiosity, responsibility, and a deep appreciation for nature. We have observed the plant’s growth from a seed to a sprout in just three weeks, which aligns with our discovery unit of life cycles. The kindergarteners are now knowledgeable gardeners and can explain the entire process of planting a seed. Every day, I ask a kindergartener to water our plant to ensure it continues to grow. They eagerly observe the changes taking place, as they marvel at the sight of tiny green shoots pushing their way through the soil, reaching for the sun’s warmth through our classroom window. As the plant grows and thrives, the student’s curiosity blooms alongside it. They ask questions and make predictions to deepen their understanding of plant life cycles. Planting seeds in a big pot is not just a unit activity, but a transformative journey of discovery, growth, and wonder!
