Six Week Session Classes for Session 3 (January 17-February 23)

Classes are $60 per session each.  No reductions will be made for late entrants.  Summit families will be billed via their FACTS account.  Non-Summit participants may pay at the front desk, with payment due prior to the first class.

As we will be out of school on January 16 and February 20, Monday classes will be held January 23-March 5.

Passport: China! with Iris Zhai
3:30-4:15, 1st-5th Grades
Get to know Iris Zhai, one of the exchange students attending the Summit, as she teaches a sampling of Chinese language and culture via stories, pictures, songs and games.

Running Club with Amanda Cowart
3:30-4:15, 2nd-5th Grades
Join Mrs. Cowart for Running Club! It is a fun, active class where we learn and work on proper running form through activities such as tag, ketchup and mustard runs, touch 10, capture the flag, and other fast-paced, super-exciting games.  Shoes comfortable for running are required.

3:30-4:15, K-5th Grades
Create different art projects with Jennifer Johnson.  This term we’ll tackle projects such as trophies, paintings, weaving projects, and collages.

Lego Robotics with Nate Lathrop
3:45-4:30, 1st-5th Grades
Build science, engineering, and technology skills by creating you own Lego robots!  Although younger students may participate in the class, students must be over 9 years old to compete in FIRST sanctions events.

Spanish Fiesta for Adult Learners with Sarah Leighninger
3:45-4:30, Parents and Other Adults
Don’t miss out on The Summit’s first adult Spanish class!  This six week session is designed for any adults who want to expand their horizons and explore a new language.  We will begin building a basic Spanish vocabulary and developing conversational skills.  Additionally, this will be an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse at what your students are learning on a daily basis in class and be able to practice your skills together as a family at home.

We are proud to announce that Adrianna Reynolds and Sarah Davis will be returning to teach piano at the Summit.  Openings are limited.

Guitar & Bass Lessons
We are also excited to welcome Darcy Stevens who will be offering private guitar or bass lessons as well as teaching our first Class Guitar lessons (found in the Long-Term Music Class section below).  Students will need to provide their own instrument.

Extended Session Music Classes (Second Session: January 18-May 10)

Our After-School music class students will be featured during our Spring Concerts and are often invited to represent the Summit by performing for community events such as Artsfest or for organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters. These classes require a longer time commitment as well as a commitment to daily at-home practice to hone and maintain new skills.

Classes are $280 as the second session is a 16 week long, twice weekly commitment.  Summit families will be billed via their FACTS account.  Non-Summit participants may pay at the front desk, with payment due prior to the first class.

Anyone signed-up for one of our Extended Session Music Classes (Any Strings section, Class Guitar, Choir, or All-Stars) at the regular price can join an additional Extended Session Music Class for only $40 for the entire second session.

Students are responsible for their own instruments unless prior arrangements are made.

Prelude & Intermezzo Strings with Shawn Keech & Suzannah Pugh
Monday & Wednesday 3:25-4:10, 2nd Grade and up
Summit Strings classes are available to students 2nd grade or older playing Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass. Prelude and Intermezzo Strings run concurrently this year; students will be placed by the instructors. No experience is necessary for Prelude Strings.

Chamber Strings is reserved for more experienced players & older students. Placement is subject to instructor approval.

We would like to welcome Suzannah Pugh, who will be offering Choir for dedicated Summit singers interested in more challenging material.

The Summit All-Stars is our premiere performance ensemble. This band maintains a repertoire of crowd-friendly classic and contemporary rock music and is considered “first-call” when the community contacts our school about having an ensemble perform. The first session for Extended Session Music Classes (Strings, Choir, Class Guitar, and All-Stars) has ended with the Fall Concert.

The Fall Concert was wonderful. All participants worked hard to prepare for the evening and should be proud of their effort and accomplishments.

Extended Session Music Classes will reconvene in January.

We are excited to offer new classes this session:  Passport: China!, Passport: Germany!, Team Dance, Holiday Crafts and Gifts, and an additional section of Running Club to be held on Monday.

In the event that a class is cancelled due to insufficient interest, those signed up for the class will be contacted and any payment refunded.

Explore the elegant world of beginning ballet!  Our young students will learn basic beginning ballet positions & movement, hear exciting music by ballet’s greatest composers, and enjoy six afternoons of movement and fun with good friends.  No experience necessary.  Clothes comfortable for movement are required.

Holiday Gifts & Crafts with Jennifer Johnson
3:30-4:15, 1st-5th Grades
Join Jennifer Johnson as we create artistic crafts and gifts for the upcoming holidays.

Explore hand and machine sewing.  Each session, students will be introduced to skills such as hemming, straight stitch, top stitch, zig zag, and blanket stitch as they make lasting projects.  Our first project will be an apron (just in time for holiday baking)!  No prior experience is necessary.  Students may be required to purchase or provide minor sewing related materials.

Fun Zone Policy for After-School Class Participants

(This policy applies to all school sanctioned and administered after-school activities, classes, and private lessons)

A student’s after-school class may occasionally be well after dismissal and before parents are available to be with their student.  As a service to our after-school class participants, Fun Zone is available for Kindergarten through fifth grade students awaiting their lesson at no additional charge.

Students will be signed out of Fun Zone for their class by their instructor at their lesson time.  Students are expected to be picked up promptly at the end of their class.

Students not picked up promptly at the end of their class will be signed back in to Fun Zone and their account billed the customary daily drop-in fee.  Unlimited plans cover all time spent in Fun Zone with no additional charge after lessons.

Fun Zone ends promptly at 5:30.  No students can remain on-campus without parental supervision after this time.
