After a successful Market Day in December following our economics unit, our class was able to pay back our loan and use the profits to make a $111.35 donation to The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri! The kids chose this charity out of several options and are excited to think about their hard-earned $$$ making a difference in the lives of needy dogs and cats right here in Springfield.

Here is the plan for next week:

Math: More adding and subtracting with the standard algorithm, including using zeros!! We will have an assessment on Friday.

Writing: We’ll be starting a compare/contrast writing next. Students will compare and contrast two book characters of their choice.

Reading: This week, we will celebrate Crayola Creativity Week during reading time! We will enjoy selected picture books and then create projects based on the books.

Science: Force and motion continues, with changes in motion and position and using graphs to organize data following an experiment.

Word work: There WILL be a spelling list next week.

In addition, during our Morning Meeting time we will be participating in “The Great Kindness Challenge!” We’ll brainstorm kind acts we can do each day, read some books about being kind, and then take these practices out into the world!

Have a wonderful weekend! (And GO CHIEFS!!)
