High School Mathematics

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 students started the year with the opportunity to re-engage in problem solving, collaboration, and mathematical reasoning. After reviewing important math messages, including anyone can do math, our brains function differently with a growth mindset, mistakes help to grow our brain, and the learning pit is challenging but worthwhile, students began engaging with the material for this year. Geometric sequences involving paper cutting and area was the first of the many sequence lessons that students will participate in during their first math unit.

Precalculus

Precal students are hitting the ground running with functions. Our textbook is a great resource, so on day one we spent time investigating ways to use the text as a learning tool. This college readiness skill is paramount to success as an independent lifelong learner. Functions are a familiar concept providing a good platform for review of prior knowledge as well as learning new material.

Applied Math

Applied Math students are preparing themselves for their first unit on business mathematics. A review of order of operations, fractions, percents, exponents, linear equations, and substitution is laying the groundwork for applying these skills in a wide range of business applications.
