Hello! Welcome to Yoga.
My name is Dulsey, but the students call me Miss D. I’ve been teaching children’s yoga at the Summit for over 6 years. I am so excited to have your student in class.
Our theme for the year is growth mindset. Each week we will explore words that help us understand that we have so much we can learn and do. This week discussed the word “ability” and how we can do something, but maybe we just don’t know how to YET. Yet is the key word for the year.
Our first week of yoga was learning what to expect and we played a fun game with a scarf and boat pose. In children’s yoga, we do boat pose several ways. We can move our legs fast for a speed boat. We can raise our arms for a sail boat, and we can lay out our legs and pretend we are in a canoe. All are very fun but our first exercise was throwing scarves in the air and catching them with our legs in boat pose. It was fun!
Today we did a flexibility challenge, learned feeling breath and did several seated poses.
