Telling Time

Kindergarten students are learning how to tell time to the nearest hour and nearest half-hour. This week, we worked together to build clocks out of paper to create a flower. We also discussed the importance of telling time and learning how to tell time to the hour (o-clock). We have enjoyed several mathematics read-alouds including The Clock Struck One and It’s About Time.  Annie and Moby, from BrainPop Jr., also helped to expand our knowledge. In Friday Folders this week, I am sending home a little clock activity for them to do. For this activity, the students will be detectives! They must look for all the clocks in their home and then write the times they do certain things throughout their daily routine. This will be such a fun way for them to connect school to home! I hope you all enjoy doing this exercise with them.

We also released our butterflies today! Although we will miss them, we are happy that they are out in the world!
